With the miracles
and nested ambivalences which modernity impels,
I cannot now know
at this natural tragic time,
whether I am a character
in the dance of a death watch.

On the landing of the stairs,
on that corner point to turn,
I dreamed I'd put a delicate table
to hold, just for a while,
the fragile things
I've carried through ascension.

About now time comes and
opens a window
to stone bridges, bicycles
and terrible sounds.

And wind moves the lace
Around a crystal glass portal
with time and with grace
and their troublesome game.

Bottom End PDF Print E-mail

with a thunder of drums and
wailing guitars, mind bending notes
cover us with love

the thunder gets louder
rumbling with hairtrigger intensity
the walls vibrate; everybody
begins to shake and dance in celebration

underneath it all, yet supporting
the entire structure is that BASS
I mean a steady rhythm
sometimes grumbly,
often flying toward the sky

all heads turn
smile
and dance to the rhythm
of the Bottom End

that energy is unique
what is in those three heads,
hearts, minds, and souls
is our treasure to keep

Big tall man
with wild tatoos
stand with your friends
and play that Bottom End
